about us

In 2023, Tokyo Story was born from the vision of three dynamic international entrepreneurs deeply connected to both Texas and Japan. Yo Shimizu, a Houston-based oil and gas operator and Tokyo-born entrepreneur; Ginger Koto Vaughn, a media & marketing pro with Japanese heritage; and Ken Sugano, a seasoned businessman with a track record of successful IPOs in Japan and the current owner of the Tokyo-based boutique advertising firm, PXC Inc. ...read more

Since 2022, this visionary trio has been exploring the creation of a unique launchpad for Japanese subculture in Texas, aiming to infuse the Lone Star State with the genuine spirit of downtown Tokyo.
The moment of revelation occurred in the summer of 2023 during their visit to the Tokyo-X event at NRG Stadium in Houston, where they encountered a captivating Gatcha popup booth from California. It was then that the team realized they had stumbled upon the living embodiment of the Tokyo Story concept.

Tokyo Story offers an unparalleled diversity of capsule toys—some funny, cool, realistic, or kawaii, while others embrace nonsensical, intense, or outright silly vibes.
And you will always find something you love.
Granted, they are not necessities like Texas’ shale gas, one of the trio notes, but that spin of the Gatcha machine and the marvel of each capsule will bring happiness and inspiration to everyone.

So come to Tokyo Story to discover that special something that brings a smile and sparks your inspiration.
Come spin your Gatcha!
